Pinewale ko pine ka bahana chahiye ... it comes in a song. Some alcoholics are such that their ego is satisfied if they get the most expensive alcohol.

Recently, a bottle of liquor was reportedly sold for Rs 69 lakh. This event is from Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, a 72-year-old bottle of Manata liquor cost Rs 69 lakh and even after that, buyers were reported to have dropped out.

The Glenn Grant Whiskey bottle, made in 1948, was put up for public auction by bottlers Gordon and McPhail. Alcohol enthusiasts living in Europe and America believe that the older the wine, the better. So even in Europe and America, hundreds of years old bottles of liquor are sold at the price of gold.

Glenn Grant Single Molt Whiskey is a Scottish product. When a bottle of the brand's liquor, made 72 years ago, was auctioned off, a hobbyist offered to pay HK 54 54,000, or Rs 39 lakh. "We expected a maximum of three to four million dollars," the auctioneer said.

It is a wonder that this can happen even in the midst of a Corona epidemic and a weak economy. Christopher Pong, a Hong Kong liquor expert, said the price of old liquor has risen sharply over the past few years compared to other antiques. Another bottle of 35-year-old liquor sold for about Rs 4.5 lakh (,000 48,000) at an auction on Friday. The bottle was sold by Kutney Ceramic Dinkter.

In India, however, there are very few old liquor connoisseurs, so such auctions are also rare. Such auctions are often held in foreign countries, and there are crowds of buyers at exorbitant prices.
