20 vehicles collided on expressway in Uttar Pradesh, visibility was almost zero due to thick fog

- Every year in winter one or two such accidents happen

Baghpat Dt. 1 January 2021 Friday

The country's capital New Delhi NCR and western Uttar Pradesh were reported to be in dense fog since this morning. Visibility was almost like zero.

The thick fog was followed by a major accident on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway this morning. Usually the speed of vehicles on the expressway is higher than other roads. Even if the speed of the vehicles is low, poor visibility increases the chances of an accident.

Something similar happened this morning. According to initial reports, twenty vehicles collided head-on on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. A police car was also involved in the collision. No casualties were reported at the time of writing, but several people were injured. All of them were taken to Baghpat District Hospital for treatment.

Immediately after the collision, the district administration sent additional traffic police to prevent traffic jams on thousands of vehicles on the expressway. Visibility was not clear even at half past eleven in the morning. The expressway evacuation exercise was underway. The relief team reached there.

One or two such accidents happen here every winter. This is due to the deadly cold and fog. It was learned that the district administration was inquiring about how to deal with fog abroad.
