New Delhi Dt. 11 December 2020 Friday

Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar have called on the media to find out who is behind the agitation of thousands of so-called farmers who have been blocking Delhi's borders for the last 10-12 days.

On Thursday night the farmer leaders threatened that so far we had only blocked the roads. Now we are going to stop the railway. We will not stop our movement until the government withdraws the new agricultural laws.

So far, six rounds of talks between the farmers' leaders and the central government have been completed. Despite the government's written assurances about mandis (markets) and minimum support prices, the beleaguered farmers are reluctant to give in. The government made it clear that the law would not be withdrawn under any circumstances.

On Thursday, a representative of the Opposition led by NCP's Sharad Pawar met President Ramnath Kovind and urged him to push the Modi government to withdraw agricultural laws. Talking about the proposals sent by the government to the farmers, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal appealed to the media to find out who is really behind this so-called farmers' movement. On this occasion, Narendra Tomar also appealed to the media that the eyes of the media are sharper than ours. The media needs to find out who is behind this so-called peasant movement.
