Two grandmothers from Punjab were becoming the center of attraction for the media in the ongoing peasant movement against the new agricultural law. Both are in their late teens and early twenties. But their passion is the same.

Both the grandmothers were also getting enthusiastic responses on social media. The first grandmother is Mohinder Kaur. Mohinder Kaur of Jandia village in Fatehgarh owns twelve acres of land. He was walking with the flag of Indian Farmers Union in his hand even when he was bent over. "I have already been a part of the peasant movement," he said. A month ago, when I went to protest at a petrol pump near Sangat village, a photograph of me taken by the media was going viral on social media.

Interestingly, actress Kangana Ranaut described the woman as an elderly woman involved in the protests in the Shahinbagh area of the capital New Delhi in February this year and criticized her. At that moment, Mohinder Kaur gave him a scathing reply and stopped Kangana from speaking. Kangana understood him as 82-year-old Bilkis Banu, whom Time magazine called the face of the Shahinbagh movement. Kangana wrote that this is the same grandmother who was featured in Time magazine and ranked among the 100 most powerful women in the world. These women are available to perform for 100 rupees a day.

Mohinder Kaur replied to Kangana that my family has enough money. What work do I go to do demonstrations for 100 rupees. I am so good that I can make such a good donation.

Another woman in the peasant movement is Jangir Kaur. He is a resident of Kattu village in Barnala district. The 80-year-old Jangir Kor has one acre of land. He was getting applause in the peasant movement. "I too have come to protest with these clay children," he told the media. The government should listen to us and take steps to ensure that our land is not encroached upon.
