Kerala, 12 December 2020, Saturday

Rauf Sharif, general secretary of the Kerala-based Muslim organization People's Front of India, has been detained at Thiruvananthapuram airport.

UP police were searching for Sharif in connection with the Hathras rape and murder case. Sources said that an inquiry is underway and Sharif may be arrested if necessary.

Allegations of money coming into Sharif's account from abroad are also being investigated. He was not present despite a notice from central agencies as part of the investigation and was stopped at the airport today. Sharif is said to be on the verge of leaving the country.

It may be mentioned here that 26 PFI posts were recently raided in various states, including UP, to investigate suspicious financial transactions of the PFI. The PFI is also accused of providing funds for the Delhi violence. There is also a financial connection between Bhim Army and PFI. A case of misinformation has also been registered by the police in the Hathras case.
