Supreme Court notice to Kunal Kamra and Rachita Taneja

-Kamara is a comedian and Taneja is a cartoonist

-Sended contempt of court notice to both

New Delhi Dated 18th December 2020 Friday

Comedian Kunal Kamra and cartoonist Rachita Taneja were sent contempt notices by the Supreme Court.

In one of his tweets, Kunal Kamara made an insulting comment by pointing a finger at the Chief Justice of the country. An earlier contempt of court case was pending against Kamra.

However, Kamara clarified that he was not going to apologize or delete my tweet in this regard. A bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice M R Shah sent reasoned notices to the two. The two were, however, allowed to appear together during the hearing.

The court on Thursday adjourned its decision on the issue of hearing the contempt case. Attorney General K Venugopal agreed to take legal action against the two and said the case would make people aware that ignoring or mocking the Supreme Court was a punishable offense.
