Lucknow 7th December 2020 Monday

Samajwadi Party leader and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav was detained by Uttar Pradesh police at his residence. It was also a police patrol at his party office.

Akhilesh today announced a tractor rally in support of the ongoing farmers' movement in Delhi. Police reached his bungalow and detained him before he could stage a tractor rally. Police also raided his SP office in Lucknow and cordoned off the SP headquarters.

In recent times, there has been an impression that various political parties have started baking their own bread in the name of the peasant movement. However, the peasant agitators made it clear that we do not need the support of any political party. However, the Bharat Bandh announced by the farmers on Tuesday was supported by Congress, SP, BSP, DMK, Left, Trinamool Congress, AAP and other parties.

The SP leaders also alleged that our party workers and leaders were forcibly detained at the police station so that they could not make the Kisan Yatra.

Police had set up two rows of barricades around Akhilesh's bungalow. Police were deployed to such an extent that even if Akhilesh left the house, he would not be able to reach his party's headquarters.
