According to information sought under the Right to Information Act, employees of public sector companies have contributed Rs 155 crore to the PMCars fund launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The highest amount of Rs 29 crore was given by ONGC staff alone. The staff of 100 public sector companies had deposited a total of Rs 155 crore. The money provided by these public sector companies under the heading Corporate Social Responsibility is different.

The reply came in the form of information sought by a reputable English newspaper under the Right to Information Act (RTI). BSNL, which is considered economically weak, also gave Rs 11.43 crore. Currently, BSNL's financial condition is poor but it registered such an amount.

According to RTI, at least 24 public sector companies had deposited Rs 1 crore or more from their staff salaries in the PMCares fund.

Earlier, the PMO had refused to provide this information. The fund was launched in March this year after an outbreak of the Corona epidemic. The Prime Minister's Office was also required to provide such information under Section 2H of the RTI Act. An English newspaper sought information under this section.
