PM Modi will issue postage stamps to mark the 100th anniversary of AMU

On Tuesday, PM Modi will address a function marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Aligarh Muslim University via video conferencing and will also issue a postage stamp at the university.

Along with the PM, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhrilai Nishank and University Vice-Chancellor Syed Mufaddal Saifuddin will also attend the event. For the first time in five decades, a Prime Minister will attend the Aligarh Muslim University event.

The university was established by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan as the Mohammadan Anglo Oriental School. It took the form of a university in 1920. The campus of the university is spread over 467 hectares and also has centers in Kerala, West Bengal and Bihar.

However, the university's student body has announced a protest against PM Modi's presence at the event.
