Farmers in favor of agricultural legislation are also seeking MSP assurance

The government, including Prime Minister Modi, has repeatedly claimed that the new agricultural laws are in the interest of farmers. The government has also said that many farmers support the new agricultural laws. However, all the farmers in the country who support or oppose the new agricultural laws want a minimum support price (MSP) on agricultural products. "I believe the new agricultural laws are beneficial to farmers and give us more options to sell our crops, but farmers should be assured of MSP," said Satpal Singh, a member of the Indian Farmers' Union in Uttar Pradesh. Kadam Barua, a farmer from Lakhimpur district in Assam, said, "If farmers are agitating for better prices, I support them." We don’t have much understanding of the laws. The condition of the local market yards is bad. Big buyers should come to us and the government should guarantee MSP.
