- Chinese Communist Party leader arrives in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, 30 December 2020, Wednesday
Confused by Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's new maneuver, China felt that Nepal was slipping out of its hands, so it began to woo pro-India leaders in Nepal.
Guo Yazzhou, deputy minister of the Communist Party of China and so-called Chanakya leader of China, and the Chinese ambassador to Nepal changed maneuvers. Guo Yezzhou arrived in Kathmandu and met Chinese Ambassador Hao Yankee, Nepal's main opposition leader, and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba. The three leaders discussed the political situation after Prime Minister Oli's dissolution of parliament.
Citing Nepal's Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka, the Nepali newspaper Kathmandu Post reported that a four-member delegation chaired by Guo, the Chinese Communist Party's deputy minister for international affairs, held talks with former Nepalese Prime Minister Deuba. The meeting also discussed in detail the relations between Nepal and China. According to the Nepali daily, Guo also invited the Nepalese leader to visit China on behalf of President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China next year.
This information was given by his foreign affairs adviser Dinesh Bhattarai when Deuba was the Prime Minister of Nepal. He said Deuba extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of China, President Xi Jinping and the leaders of the Communist Party. The Chinese Communist Party plans to hold a grand ceremony in Beijing next year. Bhattarai said bilateral issues of both the countries were also discussed on the occasion.
Guo lauded the late Prime Minister BP Koirala for keeping Deuba happy and lauded his contribution. He claimed that Sino-Nepalese relations were cordial and cordial in 1960 when Koirala was the Prime Minister.
At present, the political climate in Nepal is very hot. Oli also had a keen eye on Deuba and Guo's visit. China is eager to recreate the situation in Nepal as it was in 2017. Nepal's political critics believe that after Oli's dissolution of parliament, China wants to create a more conducive environment for its policy towards Nepal. China was keen to maintain its ties with Nepal.
