Relations between India and Russia are not as warm as they used to be, as has been said for many years. On Wednesday came the sudden news that the annual meeting between the two countries had been canceled. Since then, many speculations have started. Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi has taken to the Modi government by tweeting on the issue.

Rahul Gandhi tweeted that Russia is an important ally of India. Damage to traditional relationships lacks our foresight and can be fatal for the future. Rahul Gandhi's remarks were followed by official statements from both the countries stating that the meeting had been canceled due to the Kovid 19 epidemic. Russia's ambassador to India Nikolai Kudashov has said that relations between India and Russia are dynamic.

For the first time in 20 years

Putin became President of Russia in 2000 and since then India-Russia meetings have been held every year. This is the first time that this annual meeting has been avoided. Many are arguing the Corona epidemic, saying the meeting could have been done virtually as well. These people do not agree with the logic of both countries. In recent days, PM Modi has attended several virtual international summits.

A Foreign Ministry spokesman clarified

Anurag Srivastava, spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, also issued a statement on the sidelines of the annual meeting, explaining that the decision to cancel the annual meeting was taken by mutual consent. Any kind of speculation about it is confusing and baseless. Relations between the two countries are extremely important and it can be considered as an irresponsible attitude to spread any kind of false news.

India a front for anti-China policy

"We are in touch with the new meeting dates," said Nikolai Kudashov, Russia's ambassador to India. We are confident that this meeting will be held soon.
