Hyderabad municipal election results begin, prima facie report suggests BJP at the forefront

-Behind the party of TRS and Owaisi

Hyderabad 4th December 2020 Friday

The results of the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections started coming this morning. According to initial reports, the BJP was in the lead this time and the TRS and Owaisi parties were behind.

Normally, no city municipal election is so tug-of-war, but the BJP was keen to make inroads in the South at any cost, so this time in the Hyderabad elections, the BJP's stalwart leaders campaigned. Such leaders included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Smriti Irani.

The time was expected to come from the results of the Hyderabad municipal elections. Next year is the West Bengal Assembly elections. The extent of the BJP's rise and fall may be gauged from this election. TRS and Owaisi Maidan were killed in the 2015 elections. The BJP got one seat in cash.

This time the BJP was expected to get more seats. If the BJP gets more seats, it could also mean that Owaisi's power was declining in his own constituency.
