Ranjit Singh, a primary school teacher in Maharashtra's Solapur district, was reportedly awarded the Global Teacher Award. This primary teacher will get Rs seven crore.

Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari congratulated Ranjit Singh. UNESCO's London-based Warkey Foundation formally announced the Global Teacher Award on Thursday. Along with other teachers of the world, Ranjit Singh was also named in it.

In 2014, through this foundation, more than 12 thousand teachers from 140 countries of the world participated in the competition of Warki Foundation. Its judges shortlisted ten teachers.

The awards were announced by top actor Stephen Fry at the Natural History Museum in London on Thursday. The award was announced to Ranjit Singh for accelerating the girls' education and quick response textbook revolution. His outstanding contribution in the field of education was noted.
