Former Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prajapati was raided by the ED there


- 200 crore found in driver's name, 11 lakh old currency notes found

Gayatri Prajapati, a former minister from Uttar Pradesh and a staunch leader of the Samajwadi Party, was raided by the enforcement department there. He found an old canceled chamni note of Rs 11 lakh from there. Details of Rs 200 crore were found in the name of his driver.

The ED on Wednesday raided a total of six to seven places, including Prajapati's Lucknow home and office, based on earlier reports of money laundering. Some objectionable documents, five lakh stamps and dozens of other illegal property documents were found.

Earlier on Tuesday, the ED raided Gayatri's son's office, his chartered accountant there and Gayatri's driver living in Amethi at four or five places. From here, too, the ED found some objectionable documents, which are said to contain evidence of benign property. In Lucknow, the ED found old notes canceled by the Modi government worth Rs 11 lakh. The ED also seized documents showing that Prajapati had assets worth crores in Pune, Maharashtra. At the same time, documents were found that Prajapati had 100 acres of land in Lucknow. A list of bogus companies set up by Prajapati's son also came to hand. It also contained details of unaccounted assets worth crores of rupees.

In fact, Gayatri was prosecuted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in August last year. Gayatri Prajapati and her eldest son have been in jail ever since.

Most of the so-called Bahubali leaders and the mafia don's property worth crores of rupees were raided and the concerned leader or mafia was imprisoned wherever needed.
