New delhi date. 3 December 2020, Thursday

Earlier, a campaign was launched in the name of intolerance to return the award to the country. Now, this campaign has been started in the name of farmers' law.

Former Punjab CM and senior Akali Dal leader Parkash Singh Badal has announced the return of his Padma Vibhushan award in protest of the new farmers' law. In a letter to President Ramnath Kovind, Badal has opposed the laws and condemned the action taken against farmers.

"I am so poor that I have nothing else to sacrifice for the farmers and there is no point in keeping this award if the farmers are being insulted. I am saddened by the way the farmers have been betrayed and also the farmers' movement," he said. Being misrepresented is more painful.

After Badal, Akali Dal leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa is also set to return the Padma Bhushan award to the government. Earlier, some players had announced to return the Arjuna award in support of farmers.

The Badal family has been the most vocal opponent of the farmers' law. Earlier, Harsimrakaur Badal had resigned from the Modi government in protest of the law.
