Crisis over Haryana govt following farmers' agitation, Chautala threatens to resign

New Delhi, December 11, 2020

Following the farmers' agitation, a crisis has arisen against the BJP government in Haryana. Because in Haryana, BJP's ally and Deputy Prime Minister Dushyant Chautala has threatened to resign.

A large number of farmers from Punjab and Haryana have joined the farmers' movement which has been going on for the last few days. Pressure is mounting on Chautala in Teva. Because the farmers of these states are angry with the BJP government at the Center for bringing in agricultural laws and the BJP has formed a government in Haryana with Chautala's party.

This government, which has been in power for a year, is in crisis due to the peasant movement. Jananayak Janata Party leader Dushyant Chautala has said that farmers must get a minimum support price. The MSP is one of the assurances given by the central government to the farmers. As long as I am the Deputy CM, I will continue to work for getting MSP. If I can't give MSP to farmers, I will resign.

Thus, Chautala has indirectly made it clear that under the new law, if farmers do not get MSP, the support given to the government will be withdrawn. On the other hand, even within the party, there is a tone that the peasant movement should be split with the BJP. Dushyant Chautala's party has only 10 MLAs but this number is enough to form or overthrow the government.
