Covid-19: Temporary ban on entry of foreign nationals into Japan after new strain

New delhi date. 27 December 2020, Sunday

Countries around the world have banned flights from Britain to prevent the spread of the deadly virus in the wake of a new strain of the corona virus. The Japanese government has also announced a temporary ban on the entry of foreign nationals into the country as part of a precautionary measure.

The new form of corona virus is said to be more contagious. The ban will take effect on Monday and will remain in effect until January 31, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

Japan last week banned the entry of people from Britain and South Africa who are not residents of Japan. The move comes after seven people were confirmed infected with the virus in the past two days. Five of these seven passengers have returned from Britain.

Apart from this 970 new cases of transition have come up in Korea in the last 24 hours and a decision regarding the implementation of strict rules of social distance will be taken on Sunday. In Korea, too, the government has warned people that a nationwide lockdown will be imposed by March if social distance and other restrictions are not complied with.
