The results showed that the Congress' strategy in the Rajasthan panchayat elections was not successful.

A total of four thousand three hundred and thirty one seats were elected in 21 districts. This election broke many myths. The biggest myth was that whichever party has the government in the state always wins. This time it did not happen. In the 4,051 results released, the Congress has so far won only 1,718 seats while the BJP has won 1,835 seats.

The internal divisions of the Rajasthan Congress, as has always been the case, had an effect here as well. Ashok Gehlot was so overconfident that the Congress would win all the seats. But that did not happen. According to the State Election Commission, Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD-RLP) won 420 independents and 56 seats.

The same situation was created in the district councils. The BJP won 266 seats, the Congress 204 and the RLD five. A total of 636 members of district councils were to be elected.

Meanwhile, a youth was killed and several others were injured in a clash with a rival group in a victory procession led by the winning group within the limits of Fatehpur Sadar police station in Sikar district.
