"Come to our anchorage for jalebi, pakoda, tea," the farmer leader told the agriculture minister over the phone.

- Jalsa is being held in the name of peasant movement?

"Come to our anchorage to enjoy jalebi, pakoda and tea," the farmers' leader told Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar over phone.

However in response to this invitation another farmer leader defended that the government had sent us an invitation to negotiate with a cup of tea so our leader used such words to give a reciprocal invitation. What he meant was that you should come here and talk to us over tea.

However, credible sources say that such rallies were being held in some places in the name of farmers' movement. During the farmers' agitation against the three new agricultural laws enacted by the central government, the minister urged the farmers to drink tea.

Protesters of the peasant movement, which had been going on since September, had now reached the capital New Delhi. Thousands of people have set up camp in different parts of Delhi and there is a regular langar (mass meal arrangement) for them.

The farmers had brought with them rations from Punjab and Haryana which lasted for one and a half to two months. They are not ready to listen to the government. Those people say repeal the law first then we will negotiate.
