CBI raids Vinay Mishra's house near Abhishek Banerjee: Kailash Vijay Varghese's tweet, Mamata Sarkar's outburst

Calcutta, Ta. 31 December 2020, Thursday

The forthcoming assembly elections in West Bengal have heated up politics. On Thursday, the CBI raided the house of Trinamool Youth Congress general secretary Vinay Mishra in Calcutta. The raids came in the wake of a livestock smuggling scandal.

According to information received, Vinay Mishra was constantly given notice by the CBI, but he did not respond. Vinay Mishra is believed to be close to Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee. Abhishek Banerjee is the nephew of Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

On Thursday, the CBI team reached Vinay Mishra's residence in Calcutta. Two places have been raided in connection with livestock smuggling scam and one place in connection with coal theft. Vinay Mishra's other places in Calcutta are also likely to be raided.

Apart from this, the name of Hooghly district has also been linked in the famous coal smuggling scandal of Asan Seoul. A CBI team on Thursday raided the homes of both Amit Singh and Neeraj Singh in Konnagar in the district. However, the Singh brothers were not present at their home during the raid by the CBI team.

The CBI also questioned the family members here and also checked the documents present in their house. Central CBI personnel were also present along with the CBI team.

BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya had issued a statement on the matter after the CBI's action. He tweeted that Vinay Mishra, a power broker from Bengal, has become a topic of discussion in the region due to the immediate meeting of top officials of Bengal after the CBI raid there and the movement of the Chief Minister as well as the brothers there.

The long-running livestock smuggling scandal on the India-Bangladesh border came to the fore. This includes local officers and leaders. The matter is being investigated by the CBI, which had earlier summoned and questioned some BSF officers in the case.
