Car designer Dilip Chhabria arrested in fraud case

The country's famous car designer Dilip Chhabria has been arrested by the police on charges of fraud. Five people, including an actress, had lodged a fraud complaint against Chhabria. Mumbai Police has registered a case against Chhabria under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120 (b) and 34 of the IPC.

Chhabria, a well-known car designer in India and owner of a renowned car modification studio, has been charged with running a racket of multiple car registrations. A few days back, the crime branch seized a luxury sports car with Tamil Nadu registration modified by Chhabria's company DC Designs.

In this regard, according to the crime branch officials, the car was seized in a case of fraud and forgery as well as a case of criminal conspiracy. Chhabria has also been arrested in the case. Police also seized a luxury car worth about Rs 75 lakh from Chhabria.

Dilip Chhabria's arrest was also confirmed by Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner (Crime) Milind Bharamba. After Chhabria's arrest, he was taken to Mumbai Police Headquarters. Police declined to comment further on the matter, though police are expected to hold a press conference to reveal more details.
