BJP wins Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, wins out Sharma faction

- Also slapped SP, BSP and Congress

Lucknow 4th December 2020 Friday

The BJP's strategy in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections was a resounding success, defeating the Mathadhish Omprakash Sharma faction, which had won seats in the teachers' union for the last 48 years.

The Sharma faction has been elected for more than four and a half decades and was literally swayed. The BJP had saffroned six teacher seats and five graduate seats in the Legislative Council. The SP, BSP and Congress were in turmoil.

It may be recalled here that SP's Akhilesh Yadav was more annoyed with BSP's Mayawati than Kavadava and he then said that if need be, I will support BJP and defeat SP at any cost. A total of 199 candidates were in the fray for 11 seats in the UP Legislative Council. For a total of 11 seats, the BJP fielded its own candidates in only four of the six teacher quota seats. The SP and Sharma group contested all the seats.

Earlier, the Sharma group had a monopoly on both teacher and graduate seats. Now it was demolished. The BJP proved its organizational strength.
