US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on a seven-nation tour

Paris, Ta. Sunday 15 November 2020

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Paris on Saturday to begin a tour of seven countries in Europe and the Middle East. Pompeo's trip will be a bit confusing as the countries they are going to congratulate US President-elect Joe Biden on his victory.

Pompeo will visit Qatar starting from France: these countries do not get along with Trump.

Mike Pompeo will also visit West Bank Israel during the trip, which aims to reinforce the priorities of the outgoing administration of President Donald Trump. Former foreign ministers have avoided visiting the country.

Top US diplomats (Mike Pompeo), the country's president (Trump) and most of his Republican allies do not recognize the results of the US presidency. This is likely to cast a shadow of unusual circumstances over the country's major issues.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Friday unveiled a list of difficult topics in Iraq and Iran, including terrorism, the Middle East and China.

Welcoming Pompeo, Le Drian said, "Mike Pompeo is my US counterpart until January 20th. They have come to Paris. I welcome him.

Notably, Joe Biden will take over the presidency on January 20. From that day, the Trump administration in America will end. Mike Pompeo will meet French President Emmanuel Macron at a meeting on Monday.

Notably, relations between the French president and Trump have been strained. It is well known. These tensions have escalated since Trump withdrew from the Paris Global Environment Agreement.

In addition to France, Mike Pompeo will visit Turkey, Georgia, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. As with France, relations with the United States, Turkey, Georgia and Qatar have remained strained.
