Incumbent President Donald Trump has announced that he will be knocking on the door of the Supreme Court, realizing that he is on the verge of defeat in the US presidential election. Twice before in the history of the United States, the Supreme Court has delivered a landmark judgment on the issue of presidential elections.

Trump recently alleged that the vote count was rigged and rigged. His party did worse than expected from opinion polls, which saw them at gaining about a third of the support. The previous two cases are interesting. George W. Bush ran for president from the Republican Party in 2000, and Al Gore was the Democratic nominee. At the time, there was controversy over the vote count in Florida. George W. Bush was ahead by 537 votes but Gore's party demanded a recount in Florida.

Bush knocked on the Supreme Court door and pleaded for a recount. The court declared George W. Bush president and stopped recounting.

This is the latest thing. As late as 1876, Congress formed a committee for the final decision, which included judges of the Supreme Court, senators of the House, and other dignitaries. The final decision was taken after the vote of this committee. With just one vote, Rutherford Hayes of the Republican Party became the 19th president, and Samuel Tilden of the Democratic Party was declared the loser.
