This is none other than the President of the Indian Ocean region and the East African country of Seychelles, Wavell Ramakalavan. President Ramkalavan is a resident of Gopalganj. The full name of the President of Seychelles Ramakalavan is Wavell John Charles Ramakalavan. Most recently he has been elected President of the Seychelles. His ancestor was a resident of Parsoni village in Baroli block of Gopalganj district and had migrated to Mauritius as a Girmitia laborer 135 years ago. After which they moved to Seychelles and settled there.

Ramkalavan came to his village Parsoni for two years. Meanwhile, the people of the village gave him a grand welcome. Ramkalav then said that he would never forget this Neh-Choh. He also promised to come to the village a second time.

Bharatwanshi Wavell Ramkalavan had contested the presidential election almost six times before but lost each time. However he continued his efforts and works of public interest. As the candidate of the Linyon Democratic Cecilva Party, Ramakrishna defeated Danny Farrell of the United Seychelles Party by a huge margin in the Seychelles presidential election. Ramkalav got 54.9 per cent and Danny Farrey got 43.5 per cent votes.

Ramakalavan was born on the main island of Seychelles. His father was a blacksmith. His mother was a primary school teacher. His wife's name is Linda. Ramakalavan has three sons, Samuel, Caleb and Amos. Ramkalavan is very popular in the Seychelles because of his one-party government, rule of law and his work for human rights.
