Political violence in West Bengal continues, attack on BJP president's convoy

Calcutta, Ta. 12 November 2020, Thursday

Massive political violence has erupted in West Bengal even before the Assembly elections. The BJP president's convoy was attacked in West Bengal today.

BJP president Dilip Ghosh was attacked in the Alipurduar area. He was returning after attending a function. However, at the time of the attack, his car overturned and the next vehicle was damaged in the attack.

The BJP has blamed the Vimal Gurung faction of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJMM) for the attack. These activists started throwing stones. However, Dilip Ghosh was rescued for a while.

The BJP has blamed Mamata Banerjee's government for the attack, saying it was now threatening to defeat Mamata Banerjee.

It may be mentioned that the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha has come into existence during the ongoing agitation in Darjeeling demanding a separate Gorkha Land. It has also formed an alliance with the BJP.
