Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jaisalmer to celebrate Diwali with the Indian Army on foot at the Jaisalmer border. He was accompanied by Chief of the Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Army Staff MM Narwane and Director General of the Border Security Force Rakesh Asthana.

Twelve months of Border Security Force patrols on the Indian border at Jaisalmer. There is also a temple of Tanot Mataji here. Here is the Longowal base of the Border Security Force where the Prime Minister was to celebrate Diwali. Last year, the Prime Minister celebrated Diwali on October 27 with the Indian Army's visit to Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier, on Diwali 2018, the Prime Minister celebrated Diwali with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police on duty in Uttarkashi.

Modi is perhaps the first Prime Minister to celebrate Diwali at various borders with constant marching. The Prime Minister wished the countrymen a happy Diwali and called for a lamp to be lit in memory of the soldiers guarding the borders.
