The countdown to Diwali has begun and as shopping for Diwali has started across the country, PM Modi has also made an appeal to the people.

In his video message, PM Modi said that the mantra of Vocal for Local should not be forgotten while shopping this time. Local price should be generated.

"Vocal for local does not mean just buying earthen lamps, but also giving preference to local products in everything you buy," he said in a video message. "We, the locals there, make a variety of things. That, these are things made in our country. Don't compromise with the mantra of Vocal for Local, this mantra is the mantra of our life.

Following PM Modi's message, other ministers in the Modi government are also sharing and retweeting his message from their accounts on social media.

The government has been repeatedly appealing to people to buy local goods as the country's economy has deteriorated due to the lockdown.
