India ranks 77th in terms of bribery, although it performs better than neighboring countries

India ranks 77th in the global list of 2020 trade bribery risks with 45 points. The anti-bribery standard setting organization TRACE's list includes the risk of trade bribery in 194 countries, territories and autonomous and semi-autonomous regions.

According to this year's figures, North Korea, Turkmenistan, South Sudan, Venezuela and Eritrea are the countries with the highest trade bribery risk, while Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and New Zealand have the lowest.

In 2019, India was ranked 78th with 48 points, while in 2020 it is ranked 77th with 45 points, based on four standards.

These include civic organization oversight capabilities, including business communications with the government, anti-bribery and enforcement, government and civil service transparency, and the role of the media.

India is in a better position than its neighbors

As per the information received, India's performance has been better than that of its neighbors - Pakistan, China, Nepal and Bangladesh. However, Bhutan is ranked 48th with 37 points.
