Patna, Ta. 19 September 2020, Thursday

Within a few days of the formation of the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, change has begun. Mewalal Chaudhary, who became the education minister in the Nitish government, has resigned from his post. Chaudhary took over today and had to resign from the post of education minister within hours.

Amid allegations of corruption, Mewalal Chaudhary reached the Chief Minister's residence on Wednesday evening and met Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The conversation between Nitish and Mewalal lasted for about half an hour. Mewalal's resignation has been the subject of speculation since the visit.

According to sources, Nitish Kumar had asked Mewalal to resign. The governor has accepted his resignation and Minister Ashok Chaudhary has been given additional charge of the education department in the state government's cabinet. Notably, Mewalal took charge around 1pm and also resigned around 3pm.

This is the reason

Mewalal Chaudhary is accused of corruption. Former IPS officer Amitabh Das has also leveled serious allegations. Mewalal's wife, former MLA Nita Chaudhary, died last year. Allegedly, the connection of this case may be with the Krishi University appointment scam. Former IPS officer Amitabh Das has written to the DGP to investigate the case.

The Krishi University recruitment scam was exposed in 2016, 4 years ago. 166 people were recruited after the announcement for 281 posts. It is alleged that the candidates who got low marks were passed and the candidates with high marks were failed.
