Corona's sin led the Congress party to lose two staunch leaders in the last 36 hours. Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and now Ahmed Patel. Both these leaders were very loyal allies of the Gandhi family and especially Sonia Gandhi.

In East and Northeast India, Tarun Gogoi maintained the Congress stronghold, while in West and North India, the same task was handled by Ahmed Patel. Now both the veteran leaders were away from the Congress forever. Tarun Gogoi has been in politics for the last fifty years. Gogoi first entered Parliament in 1971 when Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister. From then until today, Gogoi has been loyal to the Gandhi family and has been working for the Congress.

For a decade and a half, Gogoi was the only Chief Minister of Assam and survived amidst problems. Gogoi was the only Northeast Indian leader to reach Assam as much as Delhi. After Indira Gandhi, Gogoi had a special reach to Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and now Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. All the leaders of the Gandhi family had full faith in Gogoi. Gogoi also proved his loyalty and his dominance in India remained intact.

Gogoi faced a big challenge in the last phase of his career. With Hemanta Bishwa Sharma leaving the Congress party, the state government was shocked and the state government collapsed. Gogoi was 85 years old.

Ahmed Patel was the leader of Gujarat but he also played an important role in national politics. He has been a consistent leader of the Congress for the last three decades. He was considered the Chanakya of the Congress. Whatever the big challenge, the Gandhi family was confident that Ahmed Patel would overcome it.
