Even if Trump does not accept defeat, Twitter will hand over the official account of the President to Biden on January 20.

Los Angeles, Sunday 22 November 2020

Joe Biden, the winner of the US presidential election, was handed the official Twitter account of the US president during his swearing-in on January 20. Twitter said it would complete the acquisition process even if President Donald Trump did not lose the election.

Potts (President of the US or POTUS) is the official Twitter account of the American president and is separate from the account of Donald Trump from whom he tweets. Biden, 78, will become the 46th president of the United States after being sworn in.

Twitter said there was no need to share information between Trump's team and Biden's team to become the new president in the process of handing over the account. All existing tweets on this account will be stored and handed over to Biden as a new account without any tweets on the day of the oath, the company said.

Twitter is actively preparing to transfer the White House's institutional Twitter accounts on January 20, 2021, Twitter spokesman Nick Pasilio said in an e-mail. The same thing will happen with the Twitter accounts of the White House, the vice president, etc.
