Emergency has to be declared to such an extent that Delhi is polluted, air quality index exceeds 500 in most areas

- CPCB predicts air to become even more toxic

New Delhi on Tuesday, November 10, 2020

Pollution had risen to such an extent that the country's capital, New Delhi, had to declare an internal crisis.

The air quality index had crossed the 500 mark in most parts of the capital. The Central Pollution Control Board predicted the air would become even more toxic. Air quality index in Mandir Marg, Punjabi Bagh, Najafgarh, Shri Arvind Marg, Pusa, Rohini, Padpadganj, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium etc. exceeded the mark of 500.

The India Meteorological Department said visibility was only 300 meters this morning. Due to this, less vehicles were seen in the areas where traffic jams are created every morning.

It may be recalled here that the Delhi government had banned the use of fireworks on Diwali in view of pollution and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh and five years imprisonment on those violating the ban.
