A study has claimed that the number of people suffering from diabetes in India will increase to 150 million by 2045.

At present, about 77 million people in India have diabetes and the burden of health services is already on the country. This number is set to increase. Scientists say that the incidence of diabetes is on the rise due to lack of quality food and lack of physical activity amid rapid urbanization in the country.

The study analyzed the risk of developing diabetes in people living in Indian metropolitan areas by taking into account their body mass index, ie height.

The study also found that women were at higher risk of developing diabetes than men. Currently, 38 percent of women and 60 percent of men who are 60 years old and do not have diabetes are more likely to develop diabetes in the future, especially those who are obese. The risk of developing diabetes in people is 87 percent.
