Biden to grant citizenship to 10 million immigrants, five lakh Indians to benefit

Washington, November 8, 2020, Sunday

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is set to grant citizenship to more than a million immigrants living in the United States.

Biden's plan is to grant citizenship to 95,000 people each year. The Biden government will support family-based immigration and eliminate the backlog of visa applications, according to Biden's campaign announcement. The U.S. immigration system will also be reformed.

The policy document states that Biden will also provide asylum to refugees arriving in the United States. The United States will admit 1.25 million refugees each year.

Biden's policy will be different from that of the previous Trump administration. During his administration, Donald Trump imposed heavy restrictions on immigrants as part of America First's policy. He also announced plans to curb infiltration.
