West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has consistently shown a lukewarm attitude towards illegal intruders and the issue has been debated frequently. Mamata has always justified her attitude. But this time, his own Trinamool Congress MLA challenged Mamata's attitude towards illegal intruders.

State MLA Shyamal Mandal challenged Mamata's sentiments towards illegal intruders. Shyamal said illegal intruders could be a threat to West Bengal. It is not appropriate to feel bad about them. Shyamal, who was elected from the Canning West assembly constituency, said the intruders were cutting down forests and digging soil illegally.

This activity can be dangerous for the environment of the state. They do not have a ration card or any kind of legal identity card. How can these people cross the river and come here. How can mangroves cut down forests?

Earlier, Border Security Force Director General KK Sharma had also said that Rohingya Muslims were constantly infiltrating due to the soft stance of the West Bengal government. The BJP then raised the issue that Mamata Banerjee was obstructing the work of the security forces in preventing illegal infiltrators.

India and Bangladesh share a 4,000-kilometer border. Thousands of Rohingya Muslims live in refugee camps in Bangladesh. Many of them cross the Indian border. Mamata is blocking the efforts of the Border Security Force to stop them. Now the issue was raised by an MLA from his own party.
