The Shiv Sena had targeted the BJP over the issue of one person being killed and 15 others injured in a police firing during the Durga massacre in Bihar's Munger area.

In an editorial written by Shiv Sena in its mouthpiece Saamana, the question was asked where are the so-called Hindutva people and why are they silent about the incident that took place during the Durgavisarjan in Munger?

The Shiv Sena had alleged that if such an incident had taken place in Maharashtra or West Bengal, the hollow Hindutva would have caused a stir. An event like the dissolution of Durga Puja would have been equated with an attack on Hindutva. There would have been demands for the imposition of presidential rule as law and order has broken down in both the states.

The Shiv Sena further alleged that the BJP wore secular spectacles to win the elections in Bihar and did not notice the Durga Puja incident. His incumbent governor in Maharashtra advises the opening of temples, but he does not notice the police firing on Hindus in Bihar.
