The Paul panel had on Monday ordered an inquiry into the incident of stone pelting and police firing during the dismantling of the Durga Mata idol. The Election Commission has directed Magadha Divisional Commissioner Asangba Chaubey to complete the probe within a week.

Rajesh Meena is the District Magistrate in Munger and Lipi Singh is the Superintendent of Police (SP). The Election Commission said Munger would soon get a new DM and a superintendent of police. The protesters also torched Mufsil and Mahila police stations in the city, alleging that no action was taken against SP Lipi Singh and other police officials in the incident of police firing and baton charge at the time of dismantling the Durga idol.

The mob also targeted the sub-divisional officer's office. Witnesses said that police personnel were fleeing toward cutaya all police stations ghusya protesters when the police station.
