The NIA raided nine places in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday for the second day in a row following allegations that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had stopped funding separatist groups and now allegedly funding terrorists. It includes six non-profit organizations and nine other spaces.

The NIA also raided the home and office of Zafar-ul-Islam Khan, former chairman of the Delhi Minority Commission. The NIA is investigating registered and unregistered NGOs operating in Jammu and Kashmir on the issue of funding terrorists. Under the supervision of IG and DIG, various NIA teams also raided the charity alliance of Zafarul-Islam Khan, an NGO headed by former Delhi Minority Commission chairman.

Also among the nine places raided by the NIA were the Human Welfare Foundation under the leadership of Shabir Ahmed Baba in Anantnag, Kashmir, the Falah-e-Aam Trust, a subsidiary of Jammu and Kashmir Jamaat-e-Islamia, JK Yatim Foundation and JK Yatim Foundation Included, the NIA said.

Sources said some of these organizations were headed by hardline separatist groups, including Zafar Akbar of the Hurriyat Conference. The raids came after the NIA registered a case under various sections of the IPC and UAPA laws, based on credible information that some NGOs and trusts receive donations at the local level and from abroad and use these alleged donations and business contributions to fund terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The NIA raided 10 places in Kashmir Valley and one place in Bangalore. The raids were carried out in a case of diverting funds raised for some NGOs and trust charitable activities and using them for separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The NIA also raided the house of Mohammad Zafar Akbar Butt.

Zafar Butt, chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, was one of Hezbollah's commanders who participated in negotiations with the Center in 2000 before being active in separatist politics. The NIA has long been investigating cross-border terror funding cases. Just a few days ago, a man was arrested from Kashmir.

According to sources, in the interrogation, he has revealed many new things, on the basis of which raids are being carried out in many places. The NIA said that some so-called NGOs and trusts were raising funds in the name of charitable activities and then using them to help separatist and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
