So in the second or third week of December, India will have the corona vaccine ready

Amid rising cases of corona infection in the country, the news has come as a relief to India.

Poonawala says the corona vaccine will be ready by December this year. However, the vaccine will largely depend on the approval of the UK's Testing and Drug Controller General of India. While the company is working on a joint vaccine, Poonawala says an advanced trial of the vaccine is underway in Britain.

According to him, if Britain shares the data, an application will be made to the Ministry of Health for an emergency trial, which will allow testing of the vaccine in India as soon as it is approved.

Poonawala said 100 million doses of the Corona Oxford vaccine are likely to be available by the second or third quarter of next year. The vaccine will be much cheaper.

The Serum Institute is working on a vaccine from Oxford University as well as another vaccine. Research is currently underway on about 150 vaccines worldwide, of which 38 are in the third phase of trials.
