Shiv Sena's intention to teach a lesson to former Bihar Director General of Police Gupteswar Pandey remained in his mind. At least for now it seemed so.

Pandey had gone to Mumbai to investigate the untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, where he criticized the Shiv Sena-ruled BMC and the state government for pushing him into quarantine.

When the Bihar Assembly elections were declared, Pandey took VRS and joined Nitish Kumar's JD (U). Soon after, the Shiv Sena called Pandey an opportunist and announced that it would teach a lesson and field its own candidate against Pandey in the elections.

On Wednesday, Nitish Kumar announced a list of 115 candidates from his JD (U) party. The Shiv Sena had alleged that Pandey had insulted the Maharashtra state government and the Mumbai police, so he should be taught a lesson.

"I get calls from many well-wishers," Pandey wrote on social media. I can understand their concerns and feelings but this time I cannot contest the Assembly elections. Don't worry. Don't even get frustrated. Be patient I will continue to serve the people of Bihar as long as I live.
