Rape of girls and minors continues in Uttar Pradesh

The incident of rape of a Dalit girl in Hathras had sparked outrage across the country and the government was expected to take the incidents of rape seriously, but in Uttar Pradesh, the trend of rape of young girls and now even girls has remained the same.

A five-year-old girl and a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old girl were admitted to the ICU of a leading private hospital in Gurugram in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday.

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Maharashtra have also witnessed incidents of rape of a girl and a minor. A 15-year-old girl allegedly raped a five-year-old girl in the neighborhood of Baberu village in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. The minor has been detained and the girl was sent for a medical examination, police said.

A 15-year-old girl from a village in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly raped by a youth from her own village. As Sagira was leaving the house, people gathered on hearing her screams and grabbed Rakesh, 38, and handed him over to the police. A 16-year-old girl was sleeping in her house in the hilly township of Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh when a young man broke into her house and allegedly raped her.

A young woman admitted to a reputed private hospital in Gurugram, Haryana for treatment of TB was raped in the ICU. Six days later, the young woman came to her senses and wrote to her father about the rape.

A 21-year-old woman from Mahendragarh in Haryana was kept on a ventilator in the ICU for treatment of TB. In Punjab's Barnala district, a 16-year-old minor took a four-year-old girl to his home and raped her. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old Gujarat man was arrested for raping a 15-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Thane district.
