-BJP announced eight candidates for nine Rajya Sabha seats
-A candidate Mayawati declared, Congress kept watching
Lucknow dated 27th October 2020 Tuesday
In the run-up to the Bihar Assembly elections, little attention was paid to the game being played in Uttar Pradesh politics. Ten Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh are set to become vacant in November. There are nine seats in which the victory of BJP candidates is 100 per cent. However, the BJP announced eight candidates instead of nine. While Congress leaders were feeling the brunt of the BJP's decision, BSP's Mayawati announced a candidate.
Despite announcing that the BJP could easily win nine out of ten seats, it had fielded candidates for eight seats. When the BJP's game was understood, the Congress started alleging that the BJP had fielded eight candidates instead of nine to win the BSP candidate. The BSP had declared Ramji Gautam as its candidate. Thus, the BSP's equation was nowhere to be seen in this election, but Ramji Gautam's candidature gave the impression that the BSP and the BJP were getting closer to each other. If these two hands go hand in hand, it could cause a stir in the states of North India.
