The Prime Minister's Kisan Sanman Yojana, launched by the Modi government to provide direct assistance to farmers' accounts, smells of a mess. As a result, state governments have stopped payments to 47 lakh farmers.
These are farmers whose records are suspicious or there are discrepancies in the spelling of Aadhar card or bank account names. As a result, the amount under PM Kisan Sanman Yojana is not reaching the farmers' account. In some cases, the bank account number given does not even exist.
A central government official said that it was the responsibility of the states to identify the families of farmers as the verification of farmers' records was done by the state government. The state government decides who is a farmer and who is not. Rs. 8000 is disbursed. This money is credited within a year. This is a 100% centrally funded scheme. Only the record is to be decided by the states. .
In Tamil Nadu, other states and the central government are shocked after 10 such scam cases came to light. So far, Rs 47 crore has been recovered in these cases.
