- The victim's family has received threats

Lucknow dated 12 October 2020 Monday

The victim's family left for Lucknow this morning amid tight security to hear the case of Hathras gangrape and atrocities. Earlier, the family had been threatened more than once and the state government had tightened security.

A Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Monday, October 12, directed the victim's family to appear in court. A 19-year-old Dalit girl from Hathras, who was gang-raped and violently tortured on a farm on September 14, died in a Delhi hospital after being in a coma for 15 days.

Police cremated the girl's body overnight. The family of the deceased was not allowed to approach the girl. The issue was hotly debated and Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself had a detailed discussion with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The Allahabad High Court on October 1 took up the case and directed the Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary, Chief of Police, District Magistrate and others to appear before it. The victim's family was also ordered to appear in court today. That is why the concerned police officer, home secretary of the state, family of the victim etc. will all be presented in the high court today. Earlier, the family had announced that they were receiving constant threats to keep their mouths shut.
