Ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections, five MLAs split in the BSP

Lucknow, 28 October 2020, Wednesday

Even before the Rajya Sabha elections in UP in early November, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party is in a state of revolt.

With five of the ten proposers of BSP candidate Ramji Gautam withdrawing on Wednesday, now there is a crisis over Ramji Gautam's candidature.

The five proposers first met Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav. After that, the BSP seems to be raising the tone of protest. Aslam, one of them, said, "Our signature was taken on the nomination paper in support of Ramji Gautam without informing us. We will not support the candidate who has come out in support of the BJP.

The MLAs who have withdrawn the proposal include Aslam Chaudhary, Aslam Raini, Govind Jatav, Muztaba Siddiqui, Hakamlal Bind. And they were also present. This is a conspiracy to prevent a Dalit from reaching the Rajya Sabha.

Elections are to be held for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in UP, in which eight candidates from BJP, one from SP and one from BSP are in the fray. Polling is scheduled to take place on November 9. There will be a clash between the independent candidates.
