The Ganga clean-up campaign has been important for the Modi government from the very beginning. Today a new dimension has been added to this link. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated six mega projects in Uttarakhand under video conferencing under the Namami Ganga Mission. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat is associated with the Secretariat in this program.
The six projects that Prime Minister Modi has unveiled include 68 MLD STP in Jagjitpur, Haridwar district, 27 MLD upgradation STP and 18 MLD STP in Sarai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that pure water would be delivered to every household from Jal Jeevan Mission. The Ganges is a symbol of our heritage, the Ganges enriches half the population of the country. Earlier, big campaigns were launched to clean the Ganges but we did not get public participation. If the same method was adopted, the Ganges would not be cleaned.
Regarding clean water, PM Modi said that now water connection is available in Uttarakhand for one rupee. Earlier decisions were taken in Delhi, but now with the Jal Jeevan Mission, decisions are being made in the village itself.
PM Modi said that now dirty water is being prevented from falling into the Ganges water. This plant is built with a view to the future. At the same time, hundreds of cities along the Ganges were liberated from open defecation. The tributaries along the Ganges are being cleared. The PM said more than Rs 30,000 crore worth of projects were underway under the Namami Ganga.
The PM said that earlier 130 ditches used to fall into the Ganges in Uttarakhand, but now this has been stopped. The cleansing of the Ganges at Prayagraj Kumbh has been praised by the people and now further efforts are being made for Haridwar Kumbh as well.
PM Modi said that farmers were being attracted towards organic farming and Mission Dolphin would help in the plains. The PM said the money was flowing like water, but there was no cleaning. Now money flows into no water and no water flows like.
