A 19-year-old Dalit girl who was gang-raped in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh finally breathed her last in a Delhi hospital today. Even the tireless efforts of doctors could not save him.

The girl was grazing with her brother and mother on a farm in Chandpa village of Hathras. When he finished his work, his brother walked home. Anne's mother was staying away and taking fodder. At that time, four Thakur youths of the village abducted the girl and took her to a nearby sorghum field and gangraped her. He cut out the girl's tongue so that she would not be identified. After being unconscious for a few days, the girl came to her senses and told her family about her plight.

She was initially taken to JN Medical College Hospital in Aligarh for treatment. It was already on the ventilator. The doctors here felt that he should be shifted to a larger hospital in Delhi and were forced to take him to Delhi for more intensive treatment. She was gangraped on September 14. Her spine was also found broken. Hathras ASP Prakash Kumar said the four accused were arrested and Rs 4.5 lakh was deposited in the victim's family bank account under Section 376D. The postmortem of the victim will be done in Delhi.
