Successful test of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with a range of 400 km

New Delhi, 30 September 2020, Wednesday

India today successfully tested a new version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. Now the BrahMos missile can cover any target up to 400 km.

In this test, the missile met all the criteria and successfully hit the target. Earlier, in September 2019, a version of the same missile with a range of 290 km was also successfully tested by the Indian research institute DRDO.

The test used an Indian-made booster in the missile. This is the second successful test of a newer version of the BrahMos with a higher range. The BrahMos missile is jointly developed by India and Russia. It is already involved in the Indian Navy and Air Force. The first version to be tested was tested in 2017. At that time, BrahMos had a target of 490 km.

As the BrahMos is a supersonic cruise missile, countries like the Philippines and Vietnam are also interested in piercing it. The BrahMos is the only cruise missile in the world that can quickly reach its target.
